Idaho Trip

Well, here it is. We made a slide show with some pictures and also video's of our Idaho trip! We did fail to take pictures with the friends we were visiting (although we DID get our cousin), our awesome game night, and the great church we were able to attend. Boo. Yet, we did get some great shots from star-gazing in the park, the super-fantastic candy store, and other random things :)

Enjoy!

Lord, your the best thing that's ever happened to me

Our Pastor asked Kali and I to sing this song last wednesday, and oh how these words are true in my life!

You've been my friend for so long
You were right when I was wrong
I can't repay all the love you've given me
You were my friend when no one cared
I was alone, but you were there
Lord, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me

Chorus:
And I owe it all to you, Lord
All I have is yours, Lord
Take my life, make me what you'd have me be
I'm your child and you're my father
I'm the clay and you're the potter
Lord, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me

Borrowed treasures, borrowed dreams
All life's joys you've given me
When troubles come you're always there to make me smile
Let come what may, thy will be done
I love you, Jesus, God's precious son
Lord, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me

If you are a born-again Christian, I'm sure you can agree that Jesus Christ is the absolute 'best thing' that's ever happened to you!

Now, I will leave you with a picture of Dad and I ice skating this weekend :)

Hello 2013

I love new beginnings. A new year means a new start and a fresh outlook on your life.

We spent New Year's Eve at church {watch night service} and had a wonderful time with friends and family. We worshipped God in songs and testimonies, heard from His Word, played games, prayed in the new year,  and {of course} when your Baptist you can't have a fellowship without lots of yummy food!

My dad and Bro. Cody each brought forth a mini-message that God had laid on their hearts. A great reminder to look back at this past year, recognize how you might have failed Christ or made mistakes, taking this fresh start to correct them {knowing that God will be with us, each step of the way}. A sort of 'rebooting' those areas of your life that need to be corrected. Also, looking forward to seeing what God will do in this next year. Great, great messages.

One of the songs that was sung last night was 'As the Deer'. This song was more popular was I was a kid, but the lyrics are so powerful. I am making this my 'song' for the new year. As a sort of resolution and reminder to keep God my #1 and my most precious treasure. There will be trials and joys {no doubt} with this new year, but no matter what I want people see Jesus through me in those rough and happy times.

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship Thee

Chorus:
You alone are my strength my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship thee

You're my friend and You are my Brother,
Even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.

I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy Giver,
And the apple of my eye.

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
Psalms 42:1

Happy New Year!

Christmas Party

My family had our Christmas party on Saturday night!
We all had so much fun with games such as....
{Throwing marshmallows into a bucket}
{Trying to get a pom pom attach to your vaseline covered nose}
{Transfer M&M's to another plate with only a straw, then make a smiley face}
{Get the cookie from your forehead to your mouth, without using your hands}
{Stack the metal nuts with a wooden dowel}
{Unwrap presents with snow gloves}

It was so nice to sing and play Christmas hymns, praising our Saviour for sending His Son so many years ago...

We also set up a photo booth...and maybe had a little too much fun with it! :)

8 Days until Christmas!!

Nutcracker

This was my first time going to see 'The Nutcracker' and it was so much fun! I have never heard the story of the Nutcracker, so it was really interesting to read about it and see it acted out! Loved the whole thing, totally up my alley....

Our Pastor's wife came with us and joined in on the fun!

Beautiful Theatre

'Intermission'

Since we don't get to the 'big city' too often, we managed to get reservations for a late-night dinner at my favorite restaurant before heading home

'The Great Wall of Chocolate'....mmm hmm...delicious!

I stand upon the Rock!

The results are out and the votes have been tallied.

Presidential election certainly didn't go as we hoped and prayed for, but nonetheless the results are not completely surprising.

Locally speaking, Washington became one of the first states to legalize marijuana and voted in the right for same-sex marriages. Booo

I voted. I prayed. I did my part.

Yet, many people are depressed/angry today. Why?

Our world is not perfect. There IS sin in the world.

Is that a big surprise to us?

Here is the awesome part of this ALL..

God never changes.
God is still on the throne.
God has not forgotten His children.
God can never ever be 'voted' out of office.

End.of.story.

Instead of being upset and angry today, choose to praise God. Thank Him that He has it all under control in His mighty and capable hands.

This video has several songs on it, but the one I really want you all to listen to is the first one, "What Never Changes."

If the sun were to fall,
If the oceans were to dry,
If the mountains were to crumble,
I wouldn't bat an eye.
'Cause I stand upon the Rock,
He's the Rock of all the ages,
No matter what may come,
The storm around me rages,
I STAND UPON WHAT NEVER CHANGES!

How Great Thou Art

A simple song I have sung in church for as long as I can remember, is quickly becoming one of my new favorites.

The lyrics are so powerful.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

My God is truly a great God!

Bury My Heart

Love this song..."Bury My Heart on the Mission field, Lord"
