Hola!

Hola, Como esta usted?

A Mexican lady from our church is teaching Kali and I Spanish, so far it is going well...I think. :) Even though on our first "lesson" there was much laughter about a Spanish phrase I wrote down. "The kids are underneath the head." Whoops! I totally meant to say table. Oh well...

I have Spanish words and phrases swirling around in my head today.

Cabesa- Head
Naris- Nose
Ojos- Eyes
Boca- Mouth
Mano- Hand
Buenos Dias- Good Morning
Que tenga un buen dia- Have a good day

In between our Spanish lessons, we have been doing Mango Languages.

This is definitely way, way better than Rosetta Stone. I took two years of Spanish through Rosetta Stone in high school. Yeeeah, didn't get me very far. To me, what makes Mango Languages so much better is that they give you the English translation of what you are saying. It is so much easier to be able to determine how to say things. With Rosetta stone, all they would give you is pictures, not the word-for-word translation.

The reason for this great interest in learning Spanish is that we have a high, HIGH population of Spanish-speaking people in our area. When we go on outreach for church it would be nice to be able to talk with people easily who don't speak English.

I know with God's help, a lot of hard work, and dedication we can do this! I will keep ya'll posted on our progress :)

A Day in the Life....

My day started out with time in God's Word and a devotional entitled, "He wants you". So timely for our Mission's Conference this week

Put together Slow-Cooker Chicken Enchilada's for dinner tonight.
Also, prepared lumpia to be cooked tomorrow, for church on Sunday as part of our Mission's Conference fellowship.

Enjoyed blossoming trees and the gorgeous weather we have been having!

Learned how to clean melted blue crayon that the boy left outside, on our outside swing, as a result of this nice weather :)   P.S.--WD-40 works pretty well!

Practiced piano for church tonight
and
sang a special with a group of ladies.

Now home from another great night of preaching from God's Word--thought of the night....."Are we living like we believe?"

Presently, enjoying some delicious home-made Nuter Buter Cookies!

Good Night All! :)

The week ahead

Yesterday, was an absolutely beautiful day!! The sun was shining, the birds were singing, we had just put our swing back on the deck, so it was really nice to sit out there and soak up some sun!! I am hoping this is the start of some very nice weather ahead of us!

Today, we were able to get some seeds in the ground for our garden, YAY!! Hoping for a good crop this year!

Tonight, we have our Ladies Fellowship, and I made a Greek Pasta Salad for the fellowship! Mmm! I am really looking forward to a new series we are starting, "Women of the Bible." There are so many good, Godly examples of women who have served the Lord, without fail, that I am eager to learn more about!!

The rest of the week is our Missions Conference! Our speaker is Bro. Copes, the Executive Vice President of Heartland Baptist Bible College. I am so, SO excited to see how God is going to work in our church this coming week, more importantly, how God is going to work in MY LIFE.

Saturday, we have outreach and bus ministry visits. We just had new tracts made out for our church and they look really nice! We have definitely been blessed to have those! Last Saturday, we found out that two of our bus kids unexpectedly moved out of state that week. :( This made me so sad, one of the boys in particular was really doing well. We are already talking about taking measures to contact them, sending a Bible as well as a letter from us, saying we miss them. Prayerfully, there is a good church in the area they moved to.

I am so excited for this coming week! Even though it is going to be CrAzY busy, this is no doubt the BEST KIND of busy, serving the Lord!! I wouldn't have it any other way!!

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

Baggage

Please take the time to watch this 10 minute video. It will really open your eyes to 'baggage' you may be carrying in your life.

Ladies SPARK

This past weekend I had the privelege to attend a ladies conference, along with fellow ladies in our church and others from like minded churches, in Olympia. This was my first time going to a ladies conference and it was such a blessing! Not only was the fellowship great, games lots of fun, delicious food, hilarious skits, but most importantly the teaching from God's Word was absolutely fabulous!

The theme for this year was, "Around the World in 8 hours". The games were all centered around different parts of the world, as well as the food all sorts of different cuisines. Yum!

Mrs. Anita Couser from Southwest Baptist Church, in Oklahoma (the church connected with Heartland Baptist Bible College), was our speaker and God really used her to speak in the lives of many, many women.

The first lesson was titled, "Where are you going?", from John 17:1-5. A few quotes I jotted down that spoke to my heart include....

~The choices we make determine how we are, not the circumstances that come our way.

~Every time I respond correctly to a trial of life, there is a mark made on my life, to gain characteristics of Christ.

~We exist on earth for Christ, He doesn't exist here for us.

The second lesson was titled, "Who are you taking with you?", from Luke 10:25-37. More things that spoke to my heart.....

~We need to be troubled, because we are not troubled about the lost. We need to be concerned, because we are not concerned about the lost. We need to be weeping, because we are not weeping about the lost.

~I need to be willing to be 'inconvienced', in order to plant a seed in a lost person's life.

~We can get so busy serving Christ in our life, that we can forget why we are here, to show others to Christ.

The final lesson was entitled, "Detours!!", using Matthew 4:1-11.

~Don't try to prove God, He doesn't need to prove Himself to me.

~Fasting and prayer go together--How long has it been since we have sincerely fasted and prayed about someone or something?

~When I get my eyes on the world and the lusts of the world, then I render myself useless to Christ.

Needless to say, the lessons were so spiritually convicting. I am so thankful I was able to go and look forward to next year!!

The BIG question!!!

Today, my brother Josh did this....

and no, it wasn't an April Fools joke! :) He went down to one knee with all of Liz' bus kids from church around them, giggling and smiling :)  He asked the love of his life, to be his wife!

Gorgeous Ring!

The EXTREMELY happy couple!

We couldn't be happier and are SO excited for this new step in their lives!
BTW, the beginning of August seems to be the when the BIG DAY is going to take place! :)
