Isn't it Amazing?!

Isn't it great how God will show you those little things in His Word to help you understand it more?! I was reading in Exodus today, it was talking about Moses and Aaron going to Pharaoh telling him to let the Children of Israel go. It went into the plagues and then I was puzzled by something, let's look at the verse together......

9:12  "And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses."

I wondered, why would God harden his heart? God was the one who wanted the Children of Israel to be free. So, why would He make it more difficult on purpose? I pondered the question, then Kali and I talked about why we thought God might do that. I continued reading and came upon this.....

10:1,2  "And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:

And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD."

Wow...that's it! God wanted to show Himself to them, show them Who He really was. He was in control even though they thought they were. It's like God is saying, "Hey stupid, do you remember Who I am and what I can do?! No? Ok, I will show you then! I'm the One in control here." It amazes me how I had that little question that really wasn't too important in the scope of things, yet God showed me those verses to clearly answer it. This all happened, literally minutes after the question was asked and pondered. Isn't God amazing?!

No you didn't!!

Tonight at work I was working on calling people who owe us money. (We do our own collections....) A part of this job that I'm not crazy about, but don't really have a choice on whether or not I want to. Anyways, while making my calls tonight I was talking to this man and the conversation was so surprising and......interesting that I thought I would share with you all. For the sake of privacy I will refer to this man as "Creeper." ;o) Here's how it went.....

Me: Hi, Creeper! (Then proceed to talk to him and ask him when he can come in to pay...)

Creeper: Hi Maggie....(then talks a little about his situation)

Creeper: Are you Single?

Me: Yes, why?

Creeper: I think your a pretty woman.....

Me: (Seriously?!) Anyways......(tried to get back on the topic, all the while having a hard time believing that he is really doing this)

Creeper: Do you want to have dinner with me?

Me: No

Creeper: *Chuckles* At least your frank!

Me: Well, your kinda twice my age....(this man is 47!!)

Creeper: How does that matter? Most men your age don't have any money!

Me: Well apparently you don't either!

Creeper: That's not always true, I have trusts.....

Me: (At this point I proceeded to close the conversation and get off the phone A.S.A.P!)

Conversation Ends.......

Seriously....what part of that was supposed to flatter me?! This man is almost my dad's age....eww. Looking back I'm seriously amazed at how frank I really was with him! I'm not normally that way, but I 'm glad I was because I don't want to give him any kind of glimmer of a hope! God certainly was putting those words in my mouth for me. Wow....you just never know who might ask you out....over the phone! lol

Sunday: Part 2

Sunday was a great day, not only fun but so exciting at church! To read the first part of how our day was, hop on over to Kali's Blog first, but ya'll come back now ya hear, to read the rest! (I know, put it in the record book that I said ya'll, haha)

Ok, ya back?!

While we were on our way home (Kali and I with the Majors), someone mentioned Sonic and that sparked an idea. Mainly, I think it was Selena saying she was thirsty and of course we had to submit to a pregnant woman's needs right?! An idea soon turned into, "Let's go to Wenatchee!" (Wenatchee is about 2 hours away, the the closest Sonic around here.) Totally random and spontanteous, it was great! So we drove on past our turn off to go home and headed for Wenatchee after the baptism. It was not without the girls having to take their naps though, they sat in the back and snoozed for a little while.

The coats over their heads served two purposes, 1) To keep the sun out of their eyes thus making it darker and 2) So they wouldn't get distracted by us talking and messing around. Apparently they served their purpose well!

We did some shopping and had a great time! Kali and I were looking for some snow boots and found some at Fred Meyers!! On sale for 50% OFF!! Whoop whoop!

We out to dinner at China Buffet, hmm....how do I explain this place? We walked in and there was LOUD Spanish music playing for a party that was there. While you are trying to enjoy your Chinese food (I say trying because the food really wasn't very good) you have live Spanish music playing. We all were just looking at each other and laughing at it all. It was crazy! After we left there, we went to the mall. We went to a couple stores in the mall and realized everything was closing down so we left. Then, we headed on over to Fred Meyer. Selena loves Fred Meyer so we figured we would be in there a while. Side note: Chris has problems with his ankle and its hard for him to walk long periods of time without it throbbing in the process, thus producing not a very great shopping buddy :o) In order to have a pleasant shopping experience, he grabbed on of these puppies.....

LOL....we were laughing for a while about this one! I was teasing him that if we needed to find them, we could just listen for the motor and easily track him down! It was so funny, at one point Kali and I were in the shoe section (looking at the before mentioned boots!) and here comes Selena with her cart and Chris trailing behind her in the scooter! It was so funny!

On our way out of town we made the needed stop to Sonic and got our drinks! Delish! It took a long time for everyone to decide what they wanted, at Sonic, there are so many delicious options! Hm....do I want cherry limeade, strawberry limeade, blue coconut, watermelon....ect....the possibilities are endless!

About a 1/2 hour out of town the car in front of us all of a sudden went to the side of the road. Chris (who was driving) wasn't sure what was going on but realized that there was a car accident ahead. There was glass in the road so we were not about to drive over the glass, we then went on over to the side of the road as well. At this point no police or anything were there, it must have just happened. In only a minute or so, several fire trucks, ambulances and police officers arrived at the scene. They were surrounding the accident so they could get the people out of the cars. We saw the jaws of life being used so it must have been pretty bad. One car went over the middle line and the car going the opposite direction got it on the front of the passenger's side. We saw at least 2 people on stretchers put into the ambulances. We said a quick word of prayer for the people involved and were watching intently for an hour. Yup, we were stuck there for an hour before the police were able to clear the way.

There was a police car that had his lights on that was in front of us. I'm telling you, they were SO blinding!! We thought we might need medical assistant for the seizures we might have! lol....we contemplated (not seriously of course) having Chris ask the police officer to turn out the lights because it was SO blinding!!

An hour later we were on the road again and so thankful that we spent that extra time deciding what to get at Sonic :o)

All in all, it was a fantastic day, both in the Lord's house AND in Wenatchee! Can you tell we are spontaneous people over here?! Loving every minute of it.........

~Saturday~

This morning started out right with the beautiful sun shining in our windows. I made breakfast (more like brunch by the time we had it!) for my family. While I was looking through this taste of home breakfast magazine the other day, I saw some really good looking things in there! On the menu was Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes, the pancakes had graham cracker crumbs with blueberries. Then you put this filling made out of cream cheese and cool whip in between two pancakes...can you say delicious?! I made everyone start out with two pancakes, so they could get the full experience of putting the filling in the middle :o) Although, I have to admit that Dad was the only one able to finish it all, I made them pretty big!

I also made some sausage patties, pork sausage with some spices added to it. Those were so delicious! After having homemade sausage patties, I never want to eat those pre-made ones again!

Later this afternoon we went to my dad's co-worker's house for his girlfriend's babyshower. (Say that five times fast!) They have several horses and he even got a couple of them all ready for us to ride! We took turns on one horse while he was right there riding his horse. It was really fun and he is already saying to come back anytime! They are such a sweet couple! The party ended very eventful with a guy falling off the horse and needing to go to the ER for stiches! Yikes!!

We drove back home (Jonathan lives 45 min. away) and I went baking away again. I made some Lemon Crumb Muffins for tomorrow, as a in-between church services snack. We are all lemon fans over here so they have definitely passed the taste tests :o)

Hope you all had a wonderful day as well! Looking forward to the day in the Lord's House tomorrow!

Bacon Potato Soup anyone?!

The result of a container of soup being dropped (by accident) from someone behind me at church. Thankfully it came out, lol......it was all over the back of my skirt. If ya don't laugh, you'll cry :o) Needless to say, I was smelling the soup on the way home...haha

So many topics....which one to choose?!

So I've had a lot of blog post topics going on in my head, its hard to choose one to write about! Alas, I have decided.....

Tonight after work I went to Walmart to pick up a few things. Ahead of me was this couple with a little girl about 3 yrs old. They had their cart full of groceries, which is not unusual. As I was standing there waiting for my turn to check out I happened to notice something. Maybe its just me or maybe other people notice this too, but I noticed what they were buying. I'm telling you about 80-90% of what they were buying were frozen dinners, frozen pizzas, frozen meals, FROZEN..... Now before you go crazy on me, I'm not one of those people who don't think you should have frozen foods. Frozen foods are fine, as long as you don't consume them all the time. The main problem I have with them is how unhealthy those frozen foods tend to be. When you are consuming them every single day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, what is that doing to your body? People wonder why they gain 20 pounds in a short amount of time? I understand that some people are very busy and just don't have time to make a three course meal every night for dinner. Most people don't have that kind of time. Yet, when you are a mother you are in charge of what your family eats. You are the one who makes the food (or thaws it :o), you are responsible for the health of your family in that area. To me, its important to have those home cooked meals. Not just because its healthier for you, but also it really is cheaper in the long run. Plus, how many preservatives and who knows what else is in there that you are constantly eating. I'm not a organic eater and I'm not a straight NO PRESERVATIVES junky. Trust me, I eat all sorts of stuff which is so not good for me, but all I'm saying is in moderation...thats the key......not every meal.

Happy New Year!

This week the Hower family came and spent a couple days with us. They came Tuesday evening and left Friday morning, allowing a couple days of great fellowship! I was able to get Wednesday off of work and enjoy a full day of fun and games. It was SO nice to visit with our close friends and see them once again! Yes....we played hedbandz :o)

New Years Eve we went over to the Majors house and had a pj party. We ate (of course), played some games, and did the quiz that the church in Oak Harbor was doing for their New Years Eve service. To make things a little more interesting, we thought it would be fun to make the losers of the quiz drink some of the spicy wing sauce Chris made. Oh yeah, it was on! Unfortunately, both teams came to a tie, therefore no losers! Instead, Dad, Chris and I decided we would do it anyways, just for fun. We had to hold some in our mouth for 10 seconds and then swallow it. You would think holding something hot in your mouth would be worse that swallowing it, but it wasn't! Once we started swallowing it, thats when it started to burn! It really wasn't too bad and the flavour was pretty good! Later, we had a video chat with Alyssa and played some games on the wii. All in all, we had a great time bringing in the New Year!

After staying up past 1 am the previous two nights, I was exhausted! I slept in this morning until X am. and just took it easy. Stayed in my pj's all day, did some things around the house, practiced piano, and gave myself  a pedicure! Ahhh.....so nice! I had a hankering to bake something, so I found some delicious looking scones in the cookbook Alyssa got Kali and I for Christmas. They had cinnamon and heath bits in the batter with a cream cheese glaze on the top. I had one of those OH.MY.GOODNESS. moments. Do you all ever get those?! Where something is so delicious that you want to faint or you might go weak in the knees?! (This may be exaggerated just a little :o) They were really delicious!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! Who else thinks that its absolutely crazy that its already 2011?!
